Six (usually) sunny days of documentary delights.Visit site
For six days each June, the world of documentary descends on Sheffield to enjoy some of the greatest factual films going. They're our favourite six days in the city's cinematic calendar.
Documentaries make us question the world and the ways we make sense of it, and since 1994 Sheffield Doc/Fest has put together ever more diverse and compelling programmes. While international delegates pitch ideas and talk deals, the public has access to hundreds of films – many of which show for free at outdoor screens.
The 2016 edition brought the likes of David Attenborough, Ken Loach, Michael Moore, Louis Theroux, Joanna Lumley and Tilda Swinton to town, along with films on everything from voguing to the cats of Istanbul (Kedi, pictured above), while the Alternate Realities exhibitions took visitors to the International Space Station and allowed them to converse with a Holocaust survivor.
