Sheffield is as much a city of beer as it is city of steel. At Steel City Beer & Cider Festival you'll experience the two, as you sip your pints in the heart of one of the city's oldest steel-making areas.

Run by the Sheffield and district branch of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale), each year the Steel City Beer & Cider Festival welcomes around 5,000 ale and cider fans from across the country and some from around the world, who between them sip tens of thousand of pints. And now they're gearing up towards this year's 43rd festival, once again in the atmospheric Kelham Island Museum, a former power station for the city's trams, which now tells the stories of the "women of steel" and the "little mesters" whose skills and sweating brows helped establish the Made in Sheffield brand around the world.

Among the hundreds of beers and ciders on tap, there'll be a few vegan and gluten free options. And as well as all the drinking, there'll be chance to enjoy music throughout the festival, curated by blues promoter Saxbob – starting with Dosch on Thursday evening, followed on Saturday late afternoon/evening with J&M Select, The Beat Merchants and Highway Child, and on Saturday with Loxley Silver Band, J&M Select, and Vegas 6.
