We all know the story: teenage Juliet meets dreamy Romeo at a fancy dress party, the two fall in love and marry in spite of an intense family feud, and nothing good comes of it.
Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet in 1597, but that didn't stop Baz Lurhmann from turning it into what was perhaps the ultimate 90s teen film: it stars Leo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, looks like MTV, and is soundtracked by the likes of Garbage, Des'ree, The Bends-era Radiohead, and The Cardigans.
This 14th February, Village Screen are bringing Romeo and Juliet to the beautiful Abbeydale Picture House. Treat yourself at one of the street food stalls and the bar, and enjoy a bit of music by candlelight before settling in for an evening of Shakespeare on screen.
Doors at 6:30pm, film starts at 8:30pm on 14th February at Abbeydale Picture House.
The Village Screen are kindly giving away a pair of tickets to the screening.
