In the shadow of Florida’s Disney World lives six-year-old Moonee (Brooklynn Prince) and her mother, Halley (Bria Vinaite) in the Magic Castle motel. Ice creams, mischief and adventures are high on the agenda for Moonee and her friends, whilst poverty, angst and hardship whirls around them.

Sean Baker’s captivating film paints a portrait of a community on the edge of society using colour, humour and in-depth characterisation. Willem Dafoe shines as paternal motel manager Bobby and the whole movie rings with the joy and curiosity of childhood. The film was part of the Showroom's Best of 2017 series and is back on the screen for anyone who missed it the first time round. Mark Kermode called it “thrillingly vibrant” in the Guardian – so you know it really is well worth a watch.
