Peddler Night Market
- , 2015
Food, music, art and beer. All down one street. At night.Visit site
Street food events have been undeniably growing in scope and style of late. Disused warehouses and indoor market halls across the country have become the natural home of independent businesses providing good food and beer to a weekend crowd. So much so, these collaborations are becoming less of a novelty and more of a legitimate answer to the age-old question of “where shall we go out tonight?”
Peddler, Sheffield’s newest contender, have interpreted the brief of "street food" literally, by choosing Arundel Street as the location for their bi-monthly night market. Interestingly, the location happens to be part of the Cultural Industries Quarter, and ever so close to an area granted conditional approval for demolition by Sheffield City Council. Projects such as Peddler Night Market are just one of the reasons that that decision is both daft and saddening.
The people pushing Peddler are Ben Smith, Jordan Roberts and Heather Gilberthorpe – who all happen to know a thing or two about food and drink (Ben works for the city’s well-loved Tamper Coffee). As we've come to expect from Peddler, a varied selection of some of the country's best street food trucks will wheel their way down Sheffield's Arundel Street. Vendors for May include Nether Edge Pizza Company, Percy and Lilys, Dim Sum Su, Quinoa Caravan, and many more. See the Peddler site for full details. And to accompany the food, there'll be delectable beers, DJ sets, live music and art across both days.
It may be worth your while to stop eating right now, in preparation.
Friday 1 May 5-10:30pm, Saturday 2 May 2-10:30pm.
Arundel Street, S1 4RE.
