Street food events have been undeniably growing in scope and style of late. Disused warehouses and indoor market halls across the country have become the natural home of independent businesses providing good food and beer to a weekend crowd. So much so, these collaborations are becoming less of a novelty and more of a legitimate answer to the age-old question of “where shall we go out tonight?”
It didn't take long for Sheffield's Peddler night market to make its mark in its first home on Arundel Street. So big a hit was Peddler, in fact, that it soon took on an event space all its own: 92 Burton Road (next to The Depot Bakery), a 7500 square foot former industrial warehouse at the Neepsend side of Kelham Island. And it's now on once a month – the first Friday and Saturday, to be precise.
The people who are pushing Peddler are Ben Smith, Heather Gilberthorpe and Jordan Roberts. They've carefully put together a different line-up of street food stalls, drinks trucks and mini exhibitions for each of their markets since starting out in October 2014. They also host design, craft, magazine and art stalls, for you to browse and shop between bites.
See Peddler's Facebook page to find out who's cooking this time.
Grab a beer or cocktail, take your pick from the treats on offer, and enjoy the music and warmth of 92 Burton Road and its cobbled courtyard. It may be worth your while to stop eating right now, in preparation.
Friday 5-11pm, Saturday 2-11pm. 92 Burton Road, S3 8DA.
