The cobbles of Mary Street were once alive with the patter of workers making their way to one of its several cutlery works. Now, thanks to 99 Mary Street and its neighbour, B&B Gallery, those cobbles are brought to life once again – this time with the sound of the culturally curious.

Set up and run by design studio DED Associates, 99 Mary Street’s exposed brick interior – in what used to be part of Hawk Works – is transformed into well-curated exhibitions on a fairly regular basis. Since the gallery opened in 2013, we’ve seen exhibitions centred around concepts as varied as folk art, a paper dog, and the greatest manmade disaster to ever hit Sheffield: the Great Flood of 1864.

It's great when exhibitions at 99MS coincide with their neighbours at B&B Gallery, making a trip down the cobbled lane essential for all art lovers. Sheffield's a doddle to navigate and since Mary Street's within easy strolling distance of the city centre galleries – with great cafes and pubs en route – it's easy to put together your own art crawl.

Keep an eye on the 99 Mary Street site for info on launch events and private views, where you can enjoy the latest shows after work with a glass of vino in hand.
