The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

Concerteenies

Concerteenies is a live music concert series based in Sheffield, bringing all kinds of musical joy to children – and their grown-ups!

Organised, and sometimes performed, by Polly Ives, concerts are designed to engage young children (0-5 years) in live, high quality music in a relaxed and friendly environment. They're performed by inspirational professional musicians – playing an eclectic mix of classical, contemporary, pop, folk and jazz with informal introductions to the music and sensory activities to enhance the experience (think bubbles, puppets and percussion).

During lockdown, Concerteenies is producing online Home Concerts in place of its usual live events, as well as a series of activities for you to try out at home. See highlights below, and follow Concerteenies on Youtube for more.

Home Concert: Annabelle Lawson – Piano

Join wonderful pianist Annabelle Lawson for a Concerteenies concert including music by Arlen, Bach, Chopin, Debussy and Randy Newman's Toy Story.

Musical Mark Making

A home activity from Concerteenies. You might think listening to music is only about using your ears. But what if your favourite piece of music could inspire your latest artistic creation?

Home Concert: James Lyons – Beatbox, Flute and Harmonica

Can You Draw a Triangle?

Join Concerteenies for some at-home music-based fun, using song to encourage children to draw shapes and patterns to gain confidence using a pencil.

Home Concert: Roderick Williams

A Concerteenies concert for babies, toddlers and their grown-ups – from musicians' homes, straight to yours!
