The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

Head to Kelham Island on the evening of 13 December for an art trail from A Friendly Neighbourhood.

The trail features four exhibitions, in four venues, with work in four different mediums by four different artists – all inspired by the hospitality of the Kelham Island area.

The trail is the launch event for A Friendly Neighbourhood, a project set up by artists Sahara Madeira Lorca and Cameron Merritt. The idea is to create a community-based collective to support people with creative pursuits – with a focus on the undiscovered or understated talents and unheard voices.

The venues and artists:

Factory Floor
Cameron Merritt: Sheffield in Colour – documentary photography

The Parrot Club
S.E Madera Lorca aka Phace: Expressions from Abstract Minds – reclaimed street art

Neepsend Social
Thomas Appleyard – acrylic and backlight work

Happy’s
James Prescott: In and On the Don – pencil crayon drawings

Opening night
13 December, 4–11pm – open to all, with chance to meet the artists.

Exhibitions open 13–21 December during each bar's opening hours.
