American trumpeter Andre Canniere brings his latest group to Sheffield Jazz, playing music in the territory between jazz, folk and fusion.
Andre’s band of top musicians will be playing tracks from their acclaimed album Ghost Days. The album features sweeping melodies, rich harmonies and powerful improvising, with each piece taking a poem as its starting point. Poets Rebecca Lynch and Malika Booker provided the lyrics, defining the mood, rhythm and phrasing of the melody, while Canniere's music composition echoes and develops those emotions.
“…the music sounds totally natural and organic and is likely to appeal to adventurous rock and pop listeners as well as the regular jazz audience” – The Jazz Mann.
Andre Canniere: trumpet, Brigitte Beraha: vocals, Tori Freestone: tenor sax, Rick Simpson: piano, Tom Farmer: bass, Andrew Bain: drums.
