Brandon Allen’s new project is a homage to Stanley Turrentine’s trademark sound which blended bop with rhythm and blues. It explores the stylistic changes that occurred throughout his career, with a focus on Turrentine’s recordings on the Blue Note and CTI labels and his reimagined versions of rock/pop hits of the 60s and 70s. Expect soulful, expressive saxophone playing accompanied by a top notch band.
"Brandon Allen is arguably the most exciting tenor player in Britain today. His phrasing is unashamedly emotional, soaked in the blues tradition" – Tony Hall, Jazzwise.
Brandon Allen: tenor saxophone, Will Barry: piano, Conor Chaplin: bass, David Ingamells: drums.
