Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix) earns a living by writing personal letters for other people who are unable to put their own feelings into words. Left heartbroken after his marriage ends and struggling to connect with the people around him, Theodore becomes fascinated with a new operating system, which reportedly develops into an intuitive and unique entity in its own right.
He starts the program and meets "Samantha" (Scarlett Johansson), whose bright voice reveals a sensitive, playful personality. Though "friends" initially, the relationship soon deepens into love, as Theodore thinks he has found the relationship he has been longing for.
Her is a film that questions the nature of relationships in the modern world.
It's the first screening at the re-launched Broomhall Community Cinema. Every audience member will receive a free mini zine about the film, and there'll be a brief talk after the film.
