American poet Emily Dickinson lost her voice when she died in 1886, and in the 130 years since she has been painted as a lonely, white-wearing recluse. Director Sol Papadopoulos decided to do some investigating of his own to find out more about one of America’s most acclaimed poets. The final documentary, My Letter to the World, delves deep into Dickinson’s work and is shot in her hometown of Amherst, MA. Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City) narrates, taking the viewer through the various chapters of Dickinson’s life in 1800’s New England. The screening will be followed by a Q+A with Papadopoulos.
