The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

If you have a short story that you've never been able to publish, perhaps what it needs is developmental editing. Join this online workshop hosted by editor and writer Lorna Partington, with The Writers Workshop.

Self-editing is a three-stage process that begins with developmental editing. At this stage, you're aiming to find greater depth and emotional impact within your story by focusing on the core components of premise, character, structure, tone, and theme.

This online class will combine teaching, discussion, and exercises to help you explore the potential of your draft story.

There'll be three classes in the series:

It's recommended that you attend all sessions to get the best insight into the self-editing process, but you can attend single sessions.

A limited number of FREE tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis to anyone on a low income – contact lorna@ideal-type.com.

Developmental feedback for a short story (6000 words max.) is available for an additional fee (limited availability).
