The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

The Card Counter

This revenge thriller tells the story of an ex-military interrogator turned poker player who travels the United States, moving from casino to casino.

An enigmatic anti-hero, William Tell (Oscar Isaac) keeps his cards close to his chest, as he wrestles with the dark experiences from his past each and every day.

Written and directed by Paul Schrader (writer of Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver, and Raging Bull), The Card Counter is a character study of a man haunted by the ghosts of his past decisions.
