The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

The Northman

From director Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse, The VVitch), The Northman is a loose pre-telling of Hamlet, Shakespeare's play based on a Viking tale. It's an epic that follows a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge his father's murder.

Combining folktales and the occult, with long, unbroken scenes, meticulous accuracy and attention-to-detail, The Northman explores how far one will go to seek justice.
