The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

Anora

Anora, a young sex worker from Brooklyn, has her life take an unexpected turn when she gets her chance at a Cinderella story, after meeting and impulsively marrying Vanya, the son of a Russian oligarch.

However, once the news reaches Russia and Vanya's parents catch wind of the union, her fairytale is threatened as they send their henchmen to annul the marriage, setting off a wild chase across New York.

From director Sean Baker (The Florida Project, Tangerine), and Winner of the Palme d'Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Anora is an audacious and electrifying dark comedy-drama with a captivating central performance from Mikey Madison (Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, Scream).

Back on screen following its win for best picture at the Oscars.
