My Path at Millennium Gallery is a creative walk through the criminal justice system. Every work on display in the exhibition has been made by someone in a prison, secure hospital, young offender institution or on probation.
Find out more about creativity in the criminal justice system and the making of the exhibition in this special virtual event. You’ll discover how the exhibition came together, from working with young people to curate the displays to installation at the Millennium Gallery.
You will be joined by Jo Tapp, Arts Manager at Koestler Arts; Sarah Jane Palmer, the Sheffield-based artist who led the curation sessions; Jay Shortall, Youth Justice Officer at Sheffield Youth Justice Service; and Ashley Gallant, Project Curator at Sheffield Museums.
The exhibition has been created in partnership with Koestler Arts – a charity which recognises the uniquely transformative power of art – and curated by young people working with Sheffield Youth Justice Service. Many of the artists who are featured in the exhibition experienced lockup for 23 hours a day during the pandemic. With often limited access to materials, each work they’ve created represents a significant artistic achievement. The exhibition will be in place at the Millennium Gallery from 20 May to 20 June 2021.
Register via Eventbrite and you will be sent an email with joining details two days before the event.
