“This is definitely a travelling record. I’d like to think it would work well in a car, played loud, driving towards a setting sun.” so says Benjamin Woods, the frontman and founder of The Golden Dregs whose latest album Godspeed is a paean to the people of London set to an indie rock soundtrack.
Stories and vignettes are delivered by Woods in a lulling baritone often compared to Leonard Cohen and Bill Callahan. As The Line of Best Fit put it, The Golden Dregs sound like “a soundtrack to happy hour in some smoke-ridden edge-of-town bar.”
After launching his own label, Joy of Life International, in 2024, this show - The Joy of Life Revue - will be supported by two kindred spirits and label mates: Sophie Jamieson and Lichen (solo).
