It’s probably to be expected that the House of All sound a bit like The Fall (in so much as any band can really sound like The Fall) - sharp guitar lines, hypnotic bass riffs, drawn out sprechgesang vocals and repetition, repetition, repetition. But if any band has a right to, it’s this bunch. The group contains five hall-of-fame members of The Fall: Martin Bramah, Stephen Hanley, Paul Hanley. Simon Wolstencroft and Pete Greenway.
The band are touring in support of their new album, Inklings. As Mojo Magazine says, while “certain ancestral instincts from somewhere around the early mid 1980s continue to manifest on this fourth LP” there is more than enough energy and spirit to take it beyond parody or tribute.
