Welcome in the Year of the Rabbit in Sheffield with the huge annual Chinese Lunar New Year event at the City Hall.
The Lunar New Year celebration is one of the biggest cultural events in Sheffield, with a spectacular showcase of musicians, acrobats and performers, plus fascinating workshops and delicious food stalls.
The evening kicks off at 5pm in the Ballroom with a free event, featuring performances inspired by classical and modern Chinese music and dance. There'll also be food and snacks on sale from a range of vendors, and games, arts and activities exploring Chinese culture.
From 7pm, the main ticketed event begins in the Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall. You'll be treated to a spectacular lion dance, traditional sword dancing, an acrobatic showcase, performances on traditional instruments like the pipa (Chinese lute), and compositions by renowned classical musicians and singers.
Take some inspiration from the traits of the rabbit – popularity, compassion and sincereness – and get together to ring in the Chinese New Year.
This year's event is supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
