Museum tour guide and widower Abel is at his wits' end when his mother Sylvie marries Michel, a convict she met while teaching drama at the local prison.

Caught up with suspicions of his new stepfather, he is blissfully unaware of his own developing feelings for his museum colleague and best friend – who was also the best friend of his departed wife, Clémence.

With a cracking chemistry, The Innocent is part family farce, part heist thriller, and features a vivacious performance from Noémie Merlant (Portrait of a Lady on Fire).
