Members of a quintessentially British working-class amateur filmmaking club grow old together amid flickering memories and challenging final years in this documentary. Formed in 1932, Bradford Movie Makers are one of the oldest amateur filmmaking clubs in the world. With dwindling funds and crumbling premises, they have to continually fight for survival. But their resolution to do so – despite some dubious film projects – is an inspiration.
Clinging to their dreams and to each other, and fuelled by endless cups of tea, this moving portrait of artistic folly speaks to the escapist dreamer in us all, and to the enduring power of shared time together, in an increasingly lonely, digital age.
Q&A
As well as the regular screenings, there'll be a special screening on 11 November followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and members of the Bradford Movie Makers.
