As part of Cinema Rediscovered on Tour, a selection of some of Hollywood's most risqué films released in the era known as pre-code Hollywood are presented in brand new remasters.
Pre-code Hollywood is the period in American filmmaking between the end of the silent era and the institution of the Hays code, from 1929 to 1934.
Pre-code films have become synonymous with progressive ideals and bold subject matter. Anything went for a brief period in Hollywood at the start of the sound era, when suggestions of sex, sin and crime were all waved through by the censors.
See a selection of films from that brief age of anything goes.
Still to come in the season: Jewel Robbery, Red Headed Woman, and Baby Face.
