The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa. From Sheffield DocFest 2024

Each June, the world of documentary filmmaking descends on Sheffield to showcase some of the most fascinating factual films going. Sheffield DocFest is one of the most exciting events in the city's cinematic calendar. With screenings taking over Sheffield's cinemas and popping up in outdoor locations around the city, it's impossible to ignore the lure of the documentaries.

As well as films, the festival also features exhibitions of innovative storytelling and immersive installations, and programmes of inspiring talks from speakers from around the world.

Come back soon for our guide to Sheffield DocFest 2025.
