Award-winning Dutch violinist Tim Kliphuis has created a brand new style that embraces classical, gypsy jazz and North-European folk music. His inclusive and innovative approach has united audiences and is influencing a new generation of string players. With Scotsmen Nigel Clark (guitar) and Roy Percy (double bass), the Dutch violinist, educator and composer Tim Kliphuis has toured extensively, performed for royalty and the United Nations on themes of climate change and collaborated with orchestras in Europe and beyond.
When Tim performed in Bradfield (2024), his trio presented their unique version of three paintings from Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’, supplemented with three more painting-inspired works he composed. A clip of the trio performing this can be found on You Tube.
The Tim Kliphuis Trio return in June 2026 to present their virtuosic interpretation of George Gershwin's 'Rhapsody in Blue', Gershwin classics and their Copland inspired arrangement entitled 'Hoedown for the Common Man'. With their trademark high-octane sound, they bring back the free-flowing improvisational energy that Gershwin's timeless melodies deserve.
