Combining the sparse electronics of English post-punk with the rhythms of Italian house and Detroit techno, Todmordern’s Working Mens Club are one of the leading lights of the UK music scene right now.
Recorded with Sheffield’s own Ross Orton, their self-titled debut album was released last year to rave reviews. Clash Magazine said “It is during a pandemic, Brexit, and economical disharmony that Working Men’s Club emerge, with a boundless sense of energy and lyrical poignancy that we can’t wait to witness live”. Having recently supported spiritual godfathers New Order, they look set to carry the torch for British synthpop into the future.
