Have a go at embroidery in this drop-in workshop at the Millennium Gallery with artist and needleworker Toni Buckby.
You'll be introduced to some new embroidery stitches so you can stitch your own animal or flower motif, inspired by Tudor needlework designs.
This workshop is suitable for all levels including beginners.
Toni will also show examples of her work and tell you all about her project on the blackwork embroidery collection at the V&A, where a group of 140 volunteers embroiderers are stitching their own versions of designs copied from a coif (head cap) in the V&A collection. The project explores how art and craft can be used to learn about historic textiles that are too fragile to display or handle.
