This year, the BFI Film Festival will feature screenings taking place in cinemas around the UK – including Sheffield's own Showroom Cinema – with a programme of standout independent cinema.
The opening film for this year's festival will be Mangrove from director Steve McQueen (12 Years A Slave, Widows, Shame) and the closing film will be the highly-anticipated Ammonite, from God's Own Country director Francis Lee. Also on the lineup are the Spike Lee-directed film of David Byrne's American Utopia stage show, a preview of Disney Pixar's fantasy musical comedy Soul, and the moving drama Mogul Mowgli starring Riz Ahmed as a British Pakistani rapper.
Taking place 7th–18th October – click here to see the Showroom Cinema's full featured BFI Festival programme.
A series of Virtual Premieres in the wider programme will also take place online through the BFI Player, for those unable to attend a cinema screening – click here for details.
