Organised by The National Videogame Museum (NVM), Games Careers Week brings together a range of organisations to showcase and explore the varied pathways available into the games and creative industries.
Highlighting the importance of transferable skills and preparing students to be job ready, the week-long festival features online and in-person events across the UK including career fairs, workshops, online talks and game jams.
In Sheffield, The National Videogame Museum will host a range of activities, opening with a two day Careers Fair (on the 25th and 26th of June) featuring exhibitors from games studios, educational institutions, and esports teams. Visitors can chat to industry experts as well as participate in intuitive drop-in workshops developed by The Sheffield College students.
The rest of the week at the NVM includes a participatory QA (Quality Assurance Tester) session by Sheffield game studio Boneloaf, an Esports Interactive Session presented by Sheffield United Community College and Pixel Art and Character Design workshops developed by the NVM’s award winning Learning team.
Events are also taking place nationwide and online including a virtual webinar with Ubisoft and Third Kind Games, an online Computing Conference aimed at educators, a Cupcake and Game Social in London, a Student Games Festival in Cambridge as well as a multitude of online talks and live streams. All events taking place during the week can be found on the Games Careers Week’s website.
