A live recording of podcast Literary Friction brings award-winning author Zadie Smith to Sheffield. Smith – who burst into the world of fiction with debut novel White Teeth in 2000 – will discuss her first short story collection, Grand Union, with Literary Friction co-hosts Carrie Plitt and Octavia Bright. The stories in Grand Union find individuals on the precipice of death, revelation and political disaster. As usual, Smith’s perceptive style paints a rich world where humans battle to navigate the everyday.
