Come join us for the screening of Untold Stories Part 2, directed by Suher Sofi, a powerful documentary that delves into the experiences of the Somali community in Tower Hamlets. Among the earliest settlers were people from Somaliland, who arrived as seamen and soldiers through Somaliland's historic relationship with Britain. The film shares the stories of first and second-generation Somalis, exploring identity, belonging, resilience, and community.
Accompanied by two other short films, made in Sheffield exploring the legacy of Somali women in our city. A Story Left Behind by Asma Kabadeh and Safiya's Story by Hamda Ali and a Q&A with the directors, moderated by Dr Muna Abdi.
Afterwards, we will be heading over to the Cafe Bar for a creative networking session while we enjoy live Somali music, poetry and samosas and chai.
