At various stages in our lives, we have all been curious about where we come from and what stories might be unlocked through learning about our heritage.
As part of the multi-arts Routes to Roots: A South Asian Heritage Project display in the Millennium Gallery avenue, this lunchtime talk brings together a short film screening, a live South Asian dance performance, and an interactive panel discussion with artists, archivists and project participants.
Produced by Maya Productions in partnership with students from King Ecgbert School and Handsworth Grange Community College.
The panel discussion will feature Dr Alex Rajinder Mason (Dig Where You Stand), Suzanne Gorman (Artistic Director of Maya Productions), Pete Evens (Archives and Heritage Manager, Sheffield City Archives), Nisha Lall and Ethel Maqeda (Sheffield artists leading the creative work with young people in Sheffield), and a representative of the students who participated in the project.
