Join in a walking tour of Kelham Island to discover more about how the area developed into one of Sheffield's first industrial districts, and then reinvented itself to become the area it is today.
Led by Anders Hanson, local resident and founder of Kelham Island Walks, you’ll discover fascinating stories about its history, architecture, and the successes and the tragedies of the people who made the area what it is.
Discover the industrialists who built the district's factories, the anti-slavery campaigner and the poet who lived in the area, the devastation of the Great Sheffield Flood, and the explosive incident that helped changed living conditions for factory works.
This special edition of the walk will also take you inside Kelham Island Museum to see parts of the collections that connect with the community that surrounds it.
This walk will be taking place following government guidance on Covid-19 measures. Spaces are limited so please book in advance to avoid disappointment. Sensible shoes are advised.
