Roots: (Overseas) and Is Any Body Home? is a theatre dance double bill created by award-winning movement artist Wency Lam.
(Overseas) addresses the identity crisis caused by colonisation and migration, where old identities have dissolved and no new identities are formed. Is Any Body Home? is a visceral exploration of the passage to a foreign land you now called ‘home’. Performed with “exceptional grace, strength, flexibility and agility,” letting the bodies tell the story.
"The stage is bare, the lighting discreet and the jarring music force the audience to focus solely on the dancers, Hsinyu Wu and Esme Lovell. They portray a remarkable range of feelings and emotions through movement leaving the audience in no doubt as to their struggle and the anguish endured during their journey towards home." – Sarah Crown, Yorkshire Times
